The website traffic industry is easily in the billions of dollars. Traffic is the advertising industry of the Internet. It started simply enough, get people to look at your site and get them to buy from you. If it was only that simple.
Today, the undisputed king is Google AdWords. Get your product on Google AdWords and your world will be paved in gold. Except when it doesn't work.
Google AdWords are like playing the lottery. Most people out there won't make a million dollars on them. A few will and most people will get something in between. But that won't stop people from lining up to take a shot.
Now Google itself is different than Google AdWords. Getting listed on Google is free, if you know how to play within their rules. If you do play by the rules, you can make it to the top quickly.
SO, WHY ONLY $20?
I chose twenty dollars because that is about what it cost to buy a business book or a report that will tell you how to be found on Google. A lot of getting to the top of Google is about understanding what Google values and then following up on it.
There are corporations out there that spend millions of dollars to ensure their search engine rankings. Most entrepreneurs don't have those kind of unlimited resources, but that is the great thing about the Internet, it doesn't matter anymore. You can compete with Walmart if you want to.
The reason Amazon stays in business is because they aren't a traditional bookstore. Bookstores are limited, where Amazon isn't. Amazon can find any book for you, versus just the top couple hundred at a book store.
Similarly, you don't have to be like a traditional business, dumping millions into advertising campaigns. Google has leveled the playing field, you just need to learn the rules, and then go play.
SO HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU CAN WIN?
The magic number is 2 million or less. Pick a search phrase on Google. Then, after you run the search, just below the inquiry box, Google will tell you how many hits you go. Anything under two million and chances are you can monopolize the search.
So, the next time you think you need to outspend Walmart in order to beat the odds and be first on Google, think again. If you can learn the rules, you can learn how to beat the odds and get ahead.
Of course, there is always a shortcut. You can just hire a professional writer to do it for you. Either way you choose, competing and beating the odds are closer than you think.
