Free Traffic Generation Using Article Marketing (Part 1)

Promoting your website and product can be free using article marketing and can drive incredible amounts of traffic to your site. The key to making money with your website is getting traffic, and the best sort of traffic is free traffic. The correct use of article marketing will see you well on the way to having a successful and profitable web business.

Article Marketing works by submitted your original, well written article to high quality, high page rank article directories. Once your article has been reviewed and accepted by the site editors, it will be live for all the world to see!

Traffic is generated by visitors reading your article, getting to the end and then clicking on the link in your author bio to get more information because your article was interesting and left them wanting more information (this is a massive gold nugget, the most important sentence in the whole article actually).

The idea is that lots of people will be looking for information about your article subject, find your article through search engines and then read your article.

Sounds very easy doesn't it! However, as with most things in life, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about your article marketing activities.

Right Way

1. Research your subject thoroughly and understand what people are searching for


2. Make a list of keywords and phrases that people type in when looking for your subject


3. Make sure you use the keywords and phrases throughout your article. In the heading, the body of the article and in the closing. A good keyword density for SEO is between 2 and 3%


4. Be an expert in the area you are writing about. If you are not, do research or hire someone who is an expert


5. If you are going to outsource your article writing, use a reputable site such as Odesk and always, always check the resume's thoroughly. You normally get what you pay for! Cheap is not always best.


6. Provide real, accurate and meaningful information in your article


7. Write your own original article


8. Spend as much time writing your author bio and resource box or similar depending on which article directory you are using as you do writing your article. This is your call to action to your readers

Wrong Way

1. Buy a bunch of PLR articles and use these


2. Write one article and run it through an article spinner and think you can generate 20, 50 or 100 high quality unique articles. Article spinners simply don't work! (tip here - none of them are any good!)


3. Try to bluff your way through your article as if you know what you are talking about when you don't. The article directory editors and more importantly your readers will see this and dismiss you, your article and your website as phonies!


4. Fill your author bio or resource box with over stated hypey rubbish. Keep it real and personal


5. Write 500+ words of fluff. People want real information. Give it to them!


6. Keyword stuff your article. Again, this makes for poor reading and people see through it instantly


7. Outsource your article writing to countries where English is a second language. I've tried doing this many, many times and again, it just does not work!
