If you have taken the time to put together a website it is at this point that you'll realize that a website is nothing more than a store or house. What makes a store or club are its members and how they interact with the store. By this I mean traffic and conversions are what is important; you need to generate website traffic. Small business owners understand this to a large degree, even home business owners are starting to see there is no love for a website that receives 1 visitor a day. You have the best product but no visitors; no one will ever know or care. It's like the guy who has the best burgers in town, and he thinks to himself, 'I don't have to do any advertising and marketing, the word of mouth from my burgers will piled them in here.'
Still, there is a long line of people going into McDonald's every day spending while he just gets the people who come in to converse. You want targeted traffic and not just a million visitors. If you are selling shoes, you do not want a million visitors who were looking for bible quotes. The key is to have a system of ways of getting traffic to your website; so if one falls short or has a temporary problem; your other methods are still hauling butt for you. In this article we're going to focus on two methods to generate website traffic.
My favorite way to generate website traffic is exactly what I'm doing now. I give free content that will assist a would-be prospect and hopefully the little tidbit is worthy enough for them to want more. In the internet marketing world they call this article marketing. The reason why this is so loved is because from it you receive free traffic all day long. If you consistently write and publish articles onto your website, article directories, on blogs, etc., you will get picked up for certain keywords by Google and begin to generate website traffic. Your article is there forever and your name gets tossed around as a leader or expert in your field. Sure writing a good quality article is time-consuming; about half an hour at the least or most, but it is a sure way to get visitors to your site if done correctly and consistently.
The second method we'll talk about to generate website traffic is popularly called forum marketing. I'm writing on this one because my friend was talking about it yesterday. This method is also very impressive because it entails you going into forums around your business niche or where potential clients hang out at; and see what they are talking about. They will post questions, concerns, frustrations, successes, and your job here is NOT to go in spamming people with your website. That will get you tossed out of the forum onto your hinny; instead you want to come in answering questions. You want to provide value that will help the people in there and you can then subtly put your website link at the bottom or in your signature. Don't advertise yourself here by saying stuff like, "If you want more info."
Your answers to their questions will make them respect you and they will click on your website from there. Furthermore, new folks to the forum that follow the thread will see that you have helped others and will click your link as well. These are never-ending and they are free methods to generate website traffic. Now if you think these are clever and cool; you will be blown away by other free methods, and by some killer paid traffic getting measures. Be sure to read the bio box below for more details.
